Giveaway

Last week thanks to all of my wonderful customers I broke the 2000 mark. I really feel so fortunate, I can hardly believe it.

So to help celebrate I am having a giveaway, there will be three separate winners. The first one picked will receive the items in the first photo, etc, etc.

This is open to all domestic and international folks.

All you have to do to enter is answer a question for me in the comment section, if you don't have an answer say anything you want.

The question is:

I am thinking about offering some items in my etsy shop in multiples. I would only pick items that I know I could closely duplicate and the items would be pre made so there would not be a waiting period.

That said how do you feel about purchasing an item that is not the exact item that appears in the photos?

See that sweet dragonfly, its a new enamel piece that I will have in the shop soon.

For an additional entry you can become a follower of my blog.

Do you like those headpins? I balled the copper wire on the end, I think it will make an interesting detail in the wire wrap. I will make more of these too.

You can also get an additional entry if you blog about this giveaway, and provide a link to your readers.

Just let me know in the comment section what you have done so I can give you credit for the additional entries.

This giveaway starts now and I will pick the winners next Wednesday morning, February 15th.

Again thank you so much for supporting my shop and making it possible to do what I love.

Woohoo! Congrats Anne! I am so impressed. I don't know if I will ever make it in the over 1000 club. (Is there a secret handshake? ;-) I have items in my shop that are custom made to order, like my owls that are very popular. I haven't made an owl that looks like the picture in about 6 months. Each one I make has special little touches and is completely different from that picture. No one has complained yet! I say go for it!
Enjoy the day!

What I like most about handmade things is that they are never exactly the same, I think as long as it says in the discription that you will not be getting the item in the photo then its a great idea!

Regina said...

Do not have a problem, that's the idea of it being handmade. Already a follower. Congratulations!

Hi Anne! Great questions.... I would say sure- I don't have an issue with that. And yes I love those headpins, that would be a great findings challenge if you want to make a bunch for my next challenge! ;)
I follow you....
always!

I have no problem with the same picture representing a made-to-order item. It's hand made & therefore going to have slight variations. That's what makes them unique!! I'm a follower of your blog & a happy customer as well!! :)

I don't have a problem with the same photo. I am dying to get my hands on the ball-end head pins. I love making jewelry using all of the head pin wire. Love the new bell flowers, too!

Nikki said...

I have no problem with that, it helps when the seller mentions it in the description, but it's part of the fun of buying something unique! Love all of your pieces! :)

I would buy handmade beads and findings without the actual photos. Your shop has definitely shown a high level of craftsmanship and quality and with an established record, buyers should feel comfortable!

I would say as a seller, take photos of a few different "lots" when you make them, that way people can compare the photos and see if there are variations. Just a thought.

I would love to do a teeny fairy garden of your glass blooms and headpins on my windowsill, how pretty would that be.

Marianna said...

That's the best part of buying handmade, you can tell it's handmade and OOAK and made just for you. But I could just be bias as a lampwork glass artist who knows that no two beads will ever be exactly alike :)

Congratulations, I agree with Marianna, that is the wonderful thing about handmade and I believe that we would all love and appreciate your work. I am a follower too!

Would love to be able to order these even if only similar to the pictures.

Congrats on 200! Just as long as the item ordered is very close to the picture, I wouldn't mind ordering it if it wasn't the one pictured. I am also a follower.

I have to agree with everyone else's comments - I have no problem because that is the idea behind homemade ..."no two are alike"... BTW: Love your headpins! I am a blog follower!

I discovered you on your 1000 sale. Seems like not that long ago. Congrats. To answer your question, I think if the description is good and I am a repeat customer I know the quality and handmade has room for variations. We are not buying mass produced so it is part of the charm. I hope my customers expect happy surprises when they buy my finished jewelry.

Personally, I think that what makes handmade wonderful is the differences :)

I have bought beads in the past that are listed as you will receive similar and it was just fine... I think it depends on the item and how much $$ I am putting out for the item. Pricier items I want to know exactly what I'm getting. Just my thoughts.

I followed your blog. :) Was very happy to...

New follower here...I would not have an issue with this. Love your components! Suzette

I think as long as the item pictured is made in the same way (same colors, method, materials) and you are clear in the description that the one pictured may not be the one received, I would absolutely be fine with it. However, there are always going to people out there that don't read the description and don't understand why it's not the exact same. I understand that each item you made is HANDmade and do to this, there will be differences in each item. Best of luck in this new endeavor!

Also. ..I'm a follower! :)

I've long admired your work...you are on my early favorites lists in Etsy! For some reason though, I had missed joining your blog. Today I joined, then I went to your Facebook page and "liked" you, then posted to my own blog!

Now, to answer your other question, like others have said, I can't imagine being disappointed in your work. And basically I would say what Hope says above, just that. :-) It must take a lot of time to take photo after photo of similar beads, when you could use that time making more beads! I'd be for that! :-)

Congrats, thanks, and very best wishes! --Sharyl

Congratulation, Anne! I agree with the posts above. I say go for it - I have no issue with items being slightly different. That's what makes them unique! Love the dragonfly.

I agree with what everyone is saying. Your product is handmade and anyone buying your product should understand that handmade items are unique and even though the materials used are the same the end product will not come out exactly the same as the first one. Just add your disclaimer to your descrption of the product and you should be good.

Whoops.. bad reading on my part. A big WooHoo on the 2000th sale. Awesome!

Okay .. my first comment must have been eaten. I agree with everyone that I expect (and appreciate) the slight differences that make handmade pieces unique. That is the fun of buying from an artist. I'm so excited to have discovered your shop and am off to browse. I also followed your blog.

Carol D. said...

Yes I would be fine purchasing items that are part of multiples. Handmades are never exact duplicates. Sometimes you want that for a particular project.

It's a little late, but I blogged about the giveaway today!! (http://craftyhope.blogspot.com/2012/02/spread-love.html)

I'm going to try again. I left a message last night--just below CraftyHope, but I don't see it appearing yet. Yesterday, I joined your blog--not sure how I missed doing that in the past! I went to your fb page and "liked" it. And I posted an entry on my blog.

Perhaps I missed hitting a final key somewhere along the way! Thanks, Sharyl
